I was just sharing a bit on my instagram about how in-home newborn sessions were what started my business a few years ago. While I always had a passion for photography, as I became a mom myself I felt overwhelmed by how fast it all went. I remember coming home from the hospital, tired, scared, hormonal and just full of love.

I feel like the first few weeks are just a blur of diapers and feeding. Some of the nights felt like the stretched on forever. I remember staring out the window of our little apartment in NYC while rocking my baby girl. As tired as I was I just wanted to freeze it all.

And now it feels like a lifetime ago and just yesterday at the same time. While I still hug my baby girl, who is now officially taller than me sometimes I wish for a moment back to the beginning. Anyways, I am emotionally rambling on, but I am so thankful for the photos I have. The photos that bring back the memories. The photos that bring back the emotions.

I am thrilled to share this beautiful in-home newborn session in Darien, CT. I met this beautiful family during a Fall family session and was excited to see them again and capture their new baby girl. I was just blown away by this beautiful nursery in Darien, CT. So many thoughtful details. Even the dresser was repainted and repurposed by mom herself. Each corner of the nursery was crafted with such thought and care. The complete nursery was just perfect. Even the mobile hanging over baby’s crib was made by mom herself.

I knew we had to spend much of this in-home newborn session in this special room.

Mom and dad were just bursting with love for baby Milie. Baby Millie was so content in her parent’s arms! They were just filled with snuggles and admiration!

Mom was wearing a stunning dress from nothing fits but, you can find there dresses here. Baby girl was wearing an adorable outfit from my favorite local children’s boutique, Weemondine .

We spent most of the session in the nursery, then found a pocket of beautiful natural light in the dining area to capture more moments during this in-home newborn session!

Keeping so busy with in-home newborn sessions this month! I thought I would share a bit about the process of booking and having an in home newborn session.

There are so many benefits to having an in home newborn session. Photos from your newborn session will help remember the memories of those early days. A newborn session in your home is less stressful for everyone. No one has to bundle up and go out into the cold. Siblings are most comfortable in their own homes. We can also capture those special spots like the nursery you set up, the glider you rock your baby on, personalized gifts from loved ones.

When people reach out for their in home newborn session I start by sending information on my sessions. I send over a session guide, wardrobe guide, and love to answer any specific questions. I have a small client wardrobe I can lend new mothers with some favorite dresses from here .

To hold your spot I send over a contract. In my calendar I hold your due date. That way we can see when baby arrives and if baby has any appointments before scheduling our in home newborn session. I do in home newborn sessions on weekday mornings.

While I often do in home newborn sessions around two weeks old, sometimes I even do them up until 8-12 weeks old! I promise you will still have images of your sweet little one!

To each session I bring a bag of swaddles and a bean bag I can set up for optimal light. When I arrive I usually have dad show me around! We can find spaces with natural light and can move anything we don’t want in photos.

When there are siblings involved I try to play off there energy! Making sure they feel included and special.

After your in home newborn session, in about two weeks, you will receive a beautiful gallery of high resolution images. All your images will be yours. Busy moms don’t have to spend time selecting only a few images, they will all be yours to treasure. In addition, the gallery is linked to professional printing labs. I am also here to help you with custom framing and album design. Your memories will be preserved forever.

I was so excited when this beautiful mom invited me into her home to capture her beautiful twin babies! In- home newborn sessions are always such a favorite for me. I love capturing newborn in their home, the place where all their memories will begin. This in -home newborn session not only had the most precious babies but also the sweetest big siblings.

A question I get asked all the time if when is the best time for newborn photos. While I advise new parents if you truly want the sleepy newborn stage then about two weeks is a great time, however, that being said even up to two months captures adorable newborn photos!

I loved how baby M and baby F stayed awake for most of their session! They both have the most incredible blue eyes! Then they fell asleep toward the end of our in home newborn session.

As a mom and a photographer I have thought and reflected on ways to capture these fleeting days. I have thought of the moments I want to remember most, and so many of those most intimate memories take place inside my home. I feel like it is time to use that more to capture families, newborns, maternity and milestones. Your home is where your life story is being told.

Your home is the place to tell your story. The paintings on the walls, the couches that have been cuddled on, the toys in the corners. Those are the details on your life. Your home is where so many moments unfold. In-home newborn sessions are extra special because your home if the place you are bringing them to. The place they will feel warm, loved and safe. When you look back on the photos you will remember the early moments in that special place.

In home photos allow the most flexibility in timing. We don’t have to worry about the golden hour of outside or early morning sun. We can fully work around baby’s schedule, toddlers nap time or any of the million things on a mom’s to do list. I often schedule in home newborn sessions mid mornings but with flexibility. Sometimes early afternoon is better for families with preschoolers, or later afternoon for families with elementary ages kids.

While I know in home sessions can feel stressful, believe me I understand, I have three kids, a mountain of laundry, crumbs on the floor, sticky door knobs and mismatched furniture. I still feel like for all family members they are less stressful. Your child can take a break when they need to play, eat a familiar snack. Parents can take a quick work call. In chilly seasons no one has to bundle up and babies don’t need to go in and out of car seats.

And in terms of you home, it is perfect. Just the way it is. We just need some natural light. We will work by windows, we can clear any distractions together, we can open shades, open doors. The magic will happen.

Your home probably has a window or two, and people who love each other. So it is perfect.

Hello again! I am excited to share another in home newborn session. I loved focusing on the connection between mom and baby boy in this in home newborn. I loved the neutral, warm tones mom picked for this session. Mom was just in awe of her baby boy so it was easy to capture the love, the simple moments, the natural snuggles

As always I start with a tour of the home. I ask mom to show me the areas she has in mind for the photos. I help her move anything we don’t want in photos. We often use parent’s room, nursery, living room or any nook with natural light.

This was a gloomy day so we stayed in front of the big windows to capture the in home newborn session.

People often ask me how many outfits they should have for baby! This is always a hard question to answer because I always say baby comes first! Sometimes too much changing makes baby upset, sometimes baby is fast asleep and up for anything! Happy New Year! I look forward to blogging and sharing more of the beautiful sessions that ended 2020 for me! It sure was a year to remember, full of so much pain and heartache, but also filled with so much beauty and love.

Just a week before Christmas I photographed this beautiful baby girl in their new home in Westchester, NY. Baby T was welcomed with so much love from big sister, big brother, mom and dad.

We used the beautiful window light in their bedrooms to capture the sweet love between the three siblings.

Big brother and big sister were so patient and sweet as they cuddled and held baby T.
